Foster Early Art Appreciation at the Saint Louis Art Museum's 'Family Sundays'

It’s never too early to foster an appreciation for art in your kids. You can give them a valuable lesson (and learn a few things yourself) at the St. Louis Art Museum’s “Family Sundays” from 1 to 4 p.m. every Sunday. Family Sundays feature free, family-focused, 30-minute guided tours through the museum’s collections, drop-in art activities in the museum’s Sculpture Hall and once-a-month special performances.

February’s activities celebrate Black History Month and focus on artists from and inspired by Africa. See highlights of the African collection, an exhibition of African textiles, and contemporary art made by artists of African descent. Then, create your own Africa-inspired artwork from unusual materials.

Also join Mama Lisa and Fundisha Enterprises on February 28 at 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. for a lively afternoon of entertaining folktales from Africa featuring cloth and weaving. Each storytelling session is 30 minutes.
