Flying Trapeze Center Prepares to Swing Into Chesterfield

You'll soon need to watch out for flying children (and adults) in Chesterfield. The Circus Harmony Flying Trapeze Center will move to a new location in Chesterfield for the opening of its third season starting May 25. Due to construction at the center's current home, Union Station, the Trapeze Center, also known as TrapezeSTL, is moving to the Chesterfield Athletic Club on Swingly Ridge Road.

In TrapezeSTL's first two seasons, hundreds of people, young and old, soared through the air with ease and safety. "Flying trapeze is an activity for everyone," said TrapezeSTL lead coach Matt Viverito. "Some people take a trapeze class to cross it off their bucket list, others fly with us regularly to stay in shape, learn new skills, overcome their fears and simply have fun doing something thrilling and unique."

Viverito is a Circus Harmony alum who performed with the St. Louis Arches, went to college and then joined the circus to tour with the Flying Pages, where he completed the legendary triple somersault. He returned to St. Louis to share the joy of flying with his hometown.

TrapezeSTL will be open for classes, group outings, parties and individual flights Wednesday through Sunday in its new location next to the Doubletree Hotel at 16625 Swingly Ridge Road.

Circus Harmony has been teaching a variety of circus arts classes for all ages (starting as young as age 3) in its home ring at City Museum since 2001. The Flying Trapeze Center opened at Union Station in 2014. A portion of the proceeds from TrapezeSTL goes toward Circus Harmony's Wheels to Wings program, which funds transportation for needy and deserving circus students to take circus classes at Circus Harmony.
