Safety Town Opens at The Magic House

Kids can once again go to town learning about safety because Kirkwood Safety Town has returned to the Magic House. Co-created by The Magic House and the City of Kirkwood, this interactive exhibit is designed to educate the region's youngest residents about safety. Kirkwood Safety Town features a child-sized neighborhood including a fire station, police station, electric company, farmers market, park, house, and even a train station!

Kids can hop on trikes to travel through the city, learning important traffic, electric and water safety skills along the way. From navigating a railroad crossing to practicing a fire drill, Safety Town also features a bike helmet-fitting station and scheduled visits from community helpers, including firefighters and police officers.

Special visits from Safety Town partners, including St. Louis Children's Hospital, Kirkwood Fire Department and the Kirkwood Police Department are set for:

Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Friday, September 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Safety Town will be open at The Magic House through September 23 and is free with admission. For more information, visit magichouse.org

Visit the Missouri History Museum on Fridays in July for their Summer Family Fun Series! Enjoy a variety of free family activities, including crafts, performances, food, movement, and more! All activities are tied into Museum exhibits and St. Louis history, and focus on a different theme each week. This summer kids and families can learn about Juneteenth, celebrate America’s 250th birthday, explore Vietnamese culture in STL, and discover the wonders of the Mighty Mississippi!

Storytelling in the Museum programs are part of the fun this year, with themes that match the rest of the day’s activities. Don’t forget, the History Clubhouse is open for play and exploration! In this hands-on family gallery, kids can travel back in time to the World’s Fair, Cahokia and more as they learn about the history of the city they call home. Appropriate for ages 2–12.
