The St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association has announced a series of free workshops for parents and educators covering a variety of topics, from preparing for college, to how stress can impact learning, to exploring brain development in children.
The St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the understanding and acceptance of learning disabilities. The LDA works to develop targeted solutions for children, parents and professionals so that every student can maximize his or her potential in the classroom and in life.
Scheduled workshops include:
October 19, 2015: College Bound Workshop for Parents and Educators led by Pam Kortum and Sheryl Silvey.
November 16, 2015: Are You Ready for an IEP Meeting? Led by Debra Leonard.
January 18, 2016: Brain Development, led by Karen Thomson.
February 15, 2016: Stress and How it Affects Your Child's Learning led by Dr. Barb Talent
April 18, 2016: What To Do at School if Your Child is Diagnosed with Dyslexia led by Deborah Leonard.
May 9, 2016: Summer Projects: How to Keep the Skills Your Child Worked So Hard to Find During the School Year, led by Autumn Bemis.
Workshops are held at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association office, 13537 Barrett Parkway in Ballwin, 63021. Workshops are free, but seating is limited and reservations are required by calling 314-966-3088.
