Commemorate the 49th anniversary of the completion of the
Gateway Arch at the Meet the Builders event. The National Park Service, along with the Jefferson National Parks Association invites the public to meet the builders of the Gateway Arch in the 1960s.
From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Arch's iron workers, electricians, sheet-metal workers, draftsmen, field engineers and x-ray technicians will greet guests and sign autographs. The builders will share personal stories and rarely see personal memorabilia and photographs chronicling their experience in constructing architect Eero Saarinen's unique vision.
The "Arch Perspective" exhibit will be on display, which showcases photos of the Arch through the years. There will also be screenings of the award-winning documentary Monument to the Dream throughout the day. National Park Rangers will be on site offering special activities related to the construction and history of the Arch.
At the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. The event is free.
