Woolly mammoths, dire wolves and saber-toothed cats come alive on the giant screen when Titans of the Ice Age, a new action-packed adventure, opens Friday at the Saint Louis Science Center’s OMNIMAX® Theater. Narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Plummer, Titans of the Ice Age transports audiences to the frozen landscapes of the northern hemisphere 20,000 years ago when giant animals roamed ice-covered Earth.
As one of the first films shot using ultra high definition digital cameras, Titans of the Ice Age is a visual experience new to the giant screen. State-of-the-art, ultra-HD CGI allows long-extinct Ice Age mammals to come alive in photorealistic detail in real-life natural environments. Stunning backdrops shot on location at Yellowstone National Park, the Northern Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains and Alaska provide the scenery on which the drama of the Pleistocene ice age unfolds.
Titans of the Ice Age transports viewers to the beautiful and otherworldly frozen landscapes of North America, Europe and Asia ten thousand years before modern civilization. Dazzling computer generated imagery brings this mysterious era to life, from saber-toothed cats and giant sloths to the iconic mammoths, giants both feared and hunted by prehistoric humans.
The magic of the giant screen reveals the harsh and beautiful kingdom of these titans: An ancient world of ice, the dawn of our ancestors, and a time when humans fought for survival alongside majestic woolly beasts.
