Slide the City is headed to St. Louis and O'Fallon in July

For lots of local families, the hot summer months are all about exploring the many pools, waterparks and splash pads the St. Louis area has to offer. But if you’re looking for the ultimate water adventure, make plans now to attend Slide the City when it slips onto St. Louis streets this July.

What Is Slide the City?

What is Slide the City exactly?  Well, it’s sort of like the ultimate slip-and-slide experience. On July 11 and 12, kids and adults alike are invited to slide down the streets of St. Louis on a 1,000 foot water slide. (That’s longer than 3 football fields.)  In addition to the giant slip-and-slide – which is of course the main attraction – this family-friendly event will also feature live music, food, drinks and water.

For two days only, the three-lane, padded slide will extend down Market Street from Jefferson Avenue to 20th Street, so this is your opportunity to experience downtown St. Louis in a whole new way. Sliders are encouraged to bring their own water buckets, floaties and water guns – and to plan on getting soaked.

Slide the City is also headed to O'Fallon, Mo., on July 25 and 26.

Tickets for this event are available for purchase on the Slide the City website, with prices ranging from $16-$65, depending on how early you buy your tickets and how many times you wish to slide. If you purchase an Unlimited wristband, for example, you’ll be able to slide as many times as you like. With this option, you can also slide an hour before and after the slide closes to everyone else, and will receive a bag full of goodies including a mouth guard, t-shirt, hat and tube for sliding.

Know Before You Go

If Slide the City sounds like the perfect summer outing for your family, there are a few key things you need to know:

• Sliders must be 5 years or older and over 46 inches tall.

• Sliders under 18 must have a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian.

• Tickets can be purchased for one ride, three rides or unlimited rides.

• For maximum speed and safety, inflatable tubes are required. Bring your own, or tubes will be available for purchase.

• A little rain won’t stop the sliding. It just means more water.

• Slide the City will also take place in O’Fallon, right in front of Fort Zumwalt West High School, on July 25 and 26. For details about the O’Fallon Slide the City, click here.

• Slide the City can also be found in Columbia, Mo. on August 22.
