Based on the book by Newbery Award winner Kate DiCamillo, (author of Because of Winn Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux), The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is the story of a toy who cares for nobody but himself. When he's ripped from the arms of the little girl who adores him, this privileged china rabbit is thrown into a life-changing adventure. From the depths of the ocean to the top of a garbage heap, Edward discovers what it means to love others on his extraordinary journey home.
With themes of family, home and redemption, this play is the perfect way to celebrate the warmth of the holiday season.
Before every performance, kids will will have the opportunity to create holiday cards for children who aren’t able to celebrate the season at home due to an illness or other crisis. After the play, the actors will offer an interactive discussion with the audience, allowing your kids to ask questions and learn more about the themes and ideas in the play. In addition, Metro Theater Company will honor a person or organization who is making a difference in the community at the first seven public performances.
