In a performance to kick of its new season, Metro Theater Company presents Games Dad Didn't Play, a play that inspires audiences to think about preconceptions, and how we see ourselves and others.
Suitable for audiences from 2nd grade to adult, Games Dad Didn't Play features Lucas, a young boy who, with his mom, is starting over in a new city and a new school. In his new life, Lucas struggles to come to terms with everything he doesn't remember, or doesn't want to believe, about his dad, who is in prison. So he imagines a whole new dad, one who hadn't hurt anyone. Lucas learns that you can't rewrite or ignore your past, but only learn from it. Lucas learns that while he may not be able to change what happened in the past, he can make his own choices.
Performances will be held at the Grandel Theatre in the Grand Center Arts District on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m.
