The Fulton School is an independent, coeducational, Montessori-based school serving children 18 months old through 12th grade. Conveniently located along the Hwy 40 corridor in Chesterfield, we provide an excellent education for children of various backgrounds and learning styles, fostering confidence, philanthropy, and a deep love of learning through child-centered teaching.
The Montessori Method emphasizes independence (to create confidence), concentration (the building block of academic growth), personalized learning (so your child is never bored or overwhelmed), and character (we believe in growing the whole child).
More than a century ago, Dr. Maria Montessori designed a system of education where everything children engage in contributes to their "work" of becoming the adults they are meant to be. So, in a Montessori classroom, children's "play" is referred to as "work," because young children's work is learning through meaningful play and purposeful activity.
There are five basic areas of our Montessori early childhood classrooms: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural. Each area contributes to the child's ability to independently complete a cycle of work, in which he chooses an activity, explores it at his own pace, and puts the activity away as he found it so that the next student is ready to use it. This cycle builds mental stamina, concentration, and creates respect for self and others.
Seeing is believing! We encourage parents to schedule a personal tour to witness our fascinating Montessori classrooms in action.
