The Magic House is building up tons of sand and excitement for the most "sandsational" exhibit ever constructed in St. Louis. Beginning May 15, visitors won't have to go any further than The Magic House's backyard to experience a day at the beach, because the popular Sandcastle Beach exhibit is returning.
With the help of ten truckloads of sand, The Magic House's backyard is being transformed once again into a beachfront park.
Visitors can take a stroll along the boardwalk, search for some seashells at the shell dig, relax under a colorful beach umbrella and build a sandcastle along side world-champion sand sculptor Dan Belcher as he sculpts a gigantic 75-ton sandcastle.
A native St. Louisan, Belcher received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University. He has traveled the world creating gigantic sand sculptures and has won numerous awards for his creations. Dan will be an artist in residence at The Magic House until he completes the sandcastle. This year's fairytale-themed sculpture will make the tenth magnificent sandcastle that Belcher has created for The Magic House.
Sandcastle Beach is included with regular admission of $10 per person. Sandcastle Beach closes one hour prior to normal museum hours.
