Dinoroarus Opens at the Saint Louis Zoo

Friday, June 19, 2026

Dinoroarus returns to the Saint Louis Zoo this summer, transporting guests millions of years back in time! The walk-through experience features 20 animatronic attractions and sculptures situated on the Zoo's Historic Hill.

The dinosaur animatronics move, roar, spit and chomp, making for a fun, all-ages experience. The 20 animatronics and sculptures span the Late Triassic through the Late Cretaceous periods, representing more than 200 million years of prehistoric life that shares surprising connections with animals today. Guests will discover the latest science-backed dino facts, explore theories on mass extinction and learn practical ways to protect today's animals from the same fate.

New and returning highlights of the Dinoroarus exhibit include:

  • A life-size Tyrannosaurus rex stretching nearly 40 feet long with 12 animated movements, including independently moving eyes, arms, neck and tail. The massive T. rex animatronic tips the scale at 5,400 lbs.
  • A towering Brachiosaurus (BRACK-ee-oh-SORE-us) is the largest animatronic in Dinoroarus, standing 23 feet tall and weighing about 6,500 lbs.
  • Three figures — the Baryonyx (bah-ree-ON-iks) and both Dilophosaurus (dye-LOF-oh-SORE-us) figures — feature water effects. The Baryonyx drools (a nod to its fish-catching lifestyle), while the Dilophosaurus can spit water at guests.
  • Four parent-and-baby pairs let families see dinosaur life stages side by side.
  • Several figures are depicted with scientifically accurate feathers and protofeathers, reflecting the latest paleontological understanding of dinosaur appearance.
  • A hands-on Fossil Dig interactive exhibit features a buried dinosaur skeleton, excavation tools and educational signage that invites kids to experience paleontology firsthand.

Tickets to Dinoroarus must be purchased at the Zoo. Admission is $5.95 for ages 2 and up. It's free for kids under 2 (ages 0-23 months). Admission is free for Zoo members and is included in the Zoo Adventure Pass.
