The Missouri Botanical Garden is offering free admission to all visitors on June 19 in honor of Juneteenth. Admission to the Children's Garden will also be free for the day. Activities in the Children's Garden include enjoying the amazing naturescape and an okra "pot-a-plant" activity. Children will learn about how okra has strong ties to the African American experience and was brought to America through the transatlantic slave route, likely as provisions for enslaved people.
The Garden will also share an interpretive visitor guide highlighting the significant contributions of African Americans to advance botanical science throughout history.
Free admission is also being offered at The Butterfly House and Shaw Nature Reserve.
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
