The St. Louis County Library Foundation presents a special story time and panel discussion of the new book Painting for Peace in Ferguson by St. Louis author Carol Swartout Klein on Monday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Library Headquarters.
The format of the evening includes:
6:30-7 p.m. Story time with author Carol Swartout Klein.
7 p.m. Panel discussion moderated by Rebeccah Bennett, founder and principal of Emerging Wisdom LLC.
Panelists include Author Carol Swartout Klein; Patient Advocacy Coordinator at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and I Love Ferguson board member Dwayne Ingram; and Art Therapist Dana Sebastian-Duncan.
Children will have the opportunity to join St. Louis County Library youth services staff members in an adjoining room for a special craft project inspired by Painting for Peace in Ferguson.
The program is free and open to the public. Signed copies of the books will be available for purchase at the event from Left Bank Books.
The event will feature a panel discussion with local experts on how to talk to children about the complicated issues affecting our community–including ways to use creative expression as an outlet.

The Saint Louis Science Center has expanded its Preschool Science Series to include new offerings for different age groups of young scientists. Storybook STEM is for ages 3 to 5.
At Free Family Saturdays at Craft Alliance, families create together in each of the Craft Alliance studios, exploring clay, fiber, metals and graphic arts. These free workshops are led by professional artists and are for families with kids ages 5 and up. They are open to the public and all family structures are welcome. Young visitors and their families are invited to the Life Science Lab Classroom at the Saint Louis Science Center to enjoy interactive read-alouds of science-themed picture books. Story times are followed by a short demonstration or discussion connected to the book's main concepts.
Valentine's Day workshops at Yucandu Art Studio allow kids to express their creativity and bring home amazing Valentine's Day projects! Workshops are for kids in kindergarten through grade 5.
