In celebration of the Argentine holiday, Dia de la Tridición, the Magic House is debuting its third cultural exhibit, Argentina's Niños. Families are invited to make a new tradition to celebrate the holiday as they explore the Museum's World Traveler Exhibit, a space created to introduce children to new cultures from around the world.
The newest exhibit is Argentina's Niños, which translates to Argentina's Children. It inspires visitors to compare the similarities and differences between their lives and those of children in the second largest country in South America.
Families will feel like they have traveled to Argentina as they explore five immersive environments, learning about the traditions and lifestyles of Argentine children. Visitors will be introduced to Spanish as they explore an Argentine school and learn about Casa Rosada (Pink House), the office of Argentina's president.
Visitors will learn all about the lives of children in Argentina. Honoring the country's love of futbol (soccer), children will be able to dress up in an Argentine national futbol uniform, take a penalty shot like Argentina's star player Lionel Messi, or play a game of foosball, a popular game in Argentina.
At the market, kids can shop for produce, select a sweet treat from the bakery or visit a butcher to gather ingredients to grill a traditional Argentine family meal. Children will also learn about the gauchos as well as explore the countryside as they climb the Andes Mountains. The exhibit features a replica of La Boca, a beautiful neighborhood where children can contribute to a vibrant street painting, just like they would find in Argentina.
In celebration of opening weekend, on Nov. 10, professional Argentine artist Claudio Baldrich and renowned musician Manuel Wirtz will be traveling from Argentina to The Magic House. They'll lead the creation of a mural on opening day that will become a permanent part of the traveling exhibit, and Baldrich will work with students at the International Welcome Center in the Ritenour School District to create a school mural inspired by the new exhibit.
Argentina's Niños opens November 10 and will be at The Magic House until August 23, 2020. The immersive exhibit is designed for children ages 3 to 12 and was created in partnership with the Argentine Society of St. Louis. The exhibit is free with admission to The Magic House.

See the Zoo's California sea lions perform acrobatic and athletic feats, including Olympic-style dives on a high-diving platform, flipper walks, frisbee tosses and plenty of surprises. While on stage with the sea lions, the Zoo's trainers explain sea lion behavior and positive-reinforcement training, in addition to the need for conserving the sea lion's ocean habitat.
Storytelling in the Museum is an in-person storytelling event happening at 10:30 a.m. at the Missouri History Museum. This event, perfect for the preschool set, features engaging stories with themes like Grandparents Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, and mealtime. Storytelling in the Museum is free.
Explore songs, finger plays, music and more during this Music & Movement class for ages 0-6. Some sessions are held in person at various branches of the St. Louis County Library. Some sessions are virtual.
Hear stories in Spanish read by native Spanish-speaking storytellers at the Missouri History Museum's Cuentos En El Museo - Storytelling in the Museum in Spanish. In these free storytelling sessions, the museum's youngest visitors explore traditional and contemporary storybooks and do hands-on crafts.
