In this new production from COCA, the Center of Creative Arts, 12-year-old Simon lives an overwhelming and overscheduled life, but they really want to find a place where they can stop and think. At the same time, on the other side of the universe, The Kid at the Edge of Everything lives alone, bored, and isolated. Following a startling sequence of events involving "lots and lots of fireworks" and a rocket ship, their worlds collide, changing the trajectory of the children's lives forever.
With an age-appropriate cast of professional adults and COCA student actors, this imaginative adventure about friendship will delight audiences of all ages but is recommended for ages 7 and up.
Written by internationally acclaimed playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer, the play has been described as "interstellar surrealism," yet children will relate to the real-world struggles of the characters to find balance and connection.
The Kid at the Edge of Everything will be performed on April 19 at 7 p.m. and April 20 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at COCA's Catherine B. Berges Theatre at COCA. Running time is 60 minutes.
